ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK WITH A WALKING SAFARI
Located a short hour’s drive from the city, travellers often overlook Arusha National Park despite its qualities due to its smaller size, 137 km². The park offers splendid landscapes, such as Mount Meru, the high-altitude forest, the craters and the alkaline lakes of Momela, from where, on a clear day, it is possible to see Mount Kilimanjaro dominating the region. Arusha National Park also offers the opportunity to observe a wide range of wildlife, from different species of antelopes, buffalos, and zebras to giraffes. It is also possible to see leopards and spotted hyenas. The park’s forest is also one of the only places to see the acrobatic black and white colobus monkeys. Accompanied by qualified and professional guides and rangers, walking safaris offer the chance to learn about the “small five”, the relationship between flora and fauna and the medicinal values of plants. An educational and exceptionally enlightening experience, walking safaris follow the tracks, sites, smells and sounds of animals large and small in the African wilderness. The walks typically last 2 to 4 hours. The privilege of walking through these natural areas gives you a sense of exhilarating adventure. Although you are usually close to large mammals like elephants, giraffes, buffalo or even lions, walking safaris are very safe. Experienced guides and an armed national ranger will accompany you on every walk. At the end of the day, you will drive to your homestay for a well-deserved overnight stay at Mama Asia/Mary.
